Testaments to Autumn Today, Paint Colors ... later.

I know I was supposed to focus on paint colors this week, but my muse had other plans for me, and into the studio I went. The past few days have been the epitome of Autumn here at the beach, and I wanted to capture that elusive magic in some of my artwork.

Autumn is summer's last breath before Winter - it's earthy and magical. There is an energy to it that no other season possesses - On the surface, it is energizing, partially because of the crisp air, but deeper, there is a stunning transformation taking place - a natural breaking down and fading - creating a beauty all of its own.

It can be seen in the rust that slowly enshrouds metal surfaces in the damp Autumn air...

It's the magical beauty seen within the decaying leaves and petals of the vibrant summer blooms. What was once pristine and saturated is now skeletal and ethereal -- a quiet and lovely sort of beauty.

Autumn's magic. How could I resist that sort of temptation? Why would I want to? Paint will wait... but my muse? I have to go where and when she leads. I found some incredible 19th C. bottles that scream the magic of Autumn in their warm hues of Amber and sage green - their tattered labels and the breathtaking patina on others. The stunning leaded crystals are akin to the dew laden silvery cobwebs that twinkle under the low-hanging full moon of Fall. ... Dreamy.

These keepsakes of Autumn will be going into the shop later today, so I have to tie myself to the computer and upload photos and I'll share the paint choices with you next week!

You’re right Isa the paint isn’t going anywhere and we would rather have you dream because you do it so well! Just look at what you created so beautiful! Question, are the crosses glass throughout so that they capture the sun? Think of all the beautiful shimmers of light passing through. You have a gift with words as well I truly look forward to your posts.

Some beautiful interpretations of your autumn Isa..
You've captured that rustic rusted feel beautifully..

One of these reminds me of La Segrada Familigia [sp?] in Barcelona.. interesting..

Have a lovely.. but busy time with your art... ciao xxx Julie

someday I will just magically appear on your doorstep.

Your blog is stunning, Isa. Overflowing with the things I love. Timeworn patina, and beautiful details. So glad I found you through Maureen (Electic Revisited). I'm a follower now. Thanks for all the lovely inspiration.
