My heart belongs to the past. I simply adore Architectural Salvage Yards - especially when they are having sales - The one in Pasadena is having a 20 - 60% off sale starting this weekend, so any of you up that way - you might want to go check that out! Thanks Good Home Construction for letting me know about the sale! Pasadena is sort of a long way for me to go - we'll see, maybe a day trip is in order .... Or I might just go see what's happening in my local yards -- Museville is in need of a few things, and I'm due for a shopping trip. Where better to shop than through lovely, ancient and interesting treasures?
Doors are on my list for sometime in the near future - an exterior door for both the main house and the guest house -
or maybe this one...

This door from Pasadena Architectural Salvage would be cute for the Main House front door
or maybe this one...
I wish that the main house was a wee bit bigger, because I'd love some old, heavy french doors between my living room and dining room - these sidelights actually could maybe work... Hopefully they are 60% off!
Ah, well - if I can't get them, I'm sure there is something I can do to make that wide doorway special without the doors.
Look at this sea of fabulous old door knobs - worn, patined, burnished and perfect. I have a great idea for these ...

An old french door knocker - love this. This might just have to come home with me.

one of my favorite kind of places~
All of your pics are amazing!
Those french doors....oh those doors~~
Oh, what wonderful old pieces from the past! This place looks like it's full of total "decor porn" -- what fun! I too am fascinated by and drawn to vintage doors, although I have no idea how I'd incorporate them into my home at present. Still ... I love to look, and find myself searching for them on Craigslist, just to see what's out there!
UGH! I just typed a comment, but then this messed up! I hope this doesn't post twice ...hrm, what did I say? Ooo! If I were there I'd make you take the day trip to Pasadena to look through that beautiful stuff, and the sidelights as french doors, GREAT idea! I'm lunching it, already! :) I just realized I have traffic court tonight. NOT.HAPPY.!
hope you get all kinds of bargains galore~ that hand knocker, i have a pic of a blue door in greece with it, i love it!
Hi Isa,
I love roaming thru places like that, I guess that's why I enjoy the yard sale that is run by the furniture store that we go to. But I even enjoy going to Lowes or Home Depot too. LOL Any place that has to do with projects for the home. There are so many things in the pictures that you've posted that I'd love to put to use.
Hugs

Places like this make my heart beat faster, too. I'm in love with those two skinny windows you found!! And that door knocker is wonderful!
Yes, those places are heaven. But the ones around here are very expensive - this is a young city and they are bringing in stuff from Europe (mostly France and England) and older cities in N. America, so it is rather dear. Still, I love to go look and dream. Take advantage of what is close to you!!
I just came across your lovely blog and I must say, I just love the doors! (in the bottom pic) There's nothing like the beautiful details and the craft that went into constructing these antique doors, is there? You might be interested in this link as well, it's on of my fav. places and they ship worldwide...http://www.archetique.ca/
What fun finds. I could do some major damage to my credit card at places like that. The car trip could be fun.
