...With Silver Bells and Cockle Shells....

How - or even where do your gardens grow?

While painting the side wall yesterday, I started thinking about what I want to do with my yards. Yes, plural. I'm lucky for a coastal socali cottage - I have a lot of yard. People who don't live here wouldn't think so, but the locals understand!
*
I have a front yard that is a good size, a backyard that's even bigger, a side yard(where my vegetable garden is going) and the backyard of the garage/guest house.

Museville (in progress) at dawn this morning -- the garden bed of misfits
a temporary housing of plants for different parts of the yards.

The plants here were in terrible shape, and weren't what we wanted, so we tore out every one of them when we moved in - including some trees. I brought some plants with me from the old place - some that hadn't been put into the ground yet and a few, that while they weren't really special, they were going to be torn out by the new owners, and I thought the least I could do was save their lives and give them a new start over here. ... Enter that crazy mosh of plants in front of the picture window -- they are all temporarily living there until I can figure out where I want them to live, permanently.
*
While laying on the roof yesterday, painting eaves and pulling wires out of the way, dreaming of my future gardens, and how ugly the roof was -- my mind drifted to rooftop gardens - so for fun, I search around and found some good ones.

When I saw the name of this post I thought you had done something fabulous with those silver bells already! :) Love the goats on the roof. Can you imagine them on my house! Poor goats.

I have big plans for those gorgeous silver bells - you will be amazed! I might make you wait until August, when you can see it in person! bwhahaha!

Those goats on your roof right now would be icicles - goatcicles! They wouldn't be lunching it. :0

Oh I LOVE those rooftop gardens! Everyone of them is such a jewel!

I kinda like your amassing of misfits in the front as you call it! I have the same sorta thing going on...the front yard is mostly all from friends. Unfortunately it was hit hard the last few days with a cold snap.

Right now I'm cherishing anything with greenery and flowers. This endless winter of snow and sickness has been horrendous.

Lovely post, thank you.

I love the goats, too. That photo brought a big smile to my face. I'd love to know where that rooftop garden is in Italy - I'd love to see it in person!

I love my misfits, too - but I'm not sure that I like them all in that particular spot - that grass is so huge, and will get even bigger, I thought it overwhelmed the house - maybe a smaller version of it there, and those big boys can move to the back corner of the backyard. Decisions, decisions! We'll see. Like Ms. O'Hara says, "I'll think about that tomorrow!" hee
