Practice Makes Perfect...

So.... As you know, I practiced my made up faux wood technique on the front door (which is slated for the bin, anyway) - and it actually came out okay, and it certainly looks better than the dark murky green it was before! So I won't mind looking at it as much until that time when it can (and will) be replaced by the perfect door-to-be. I'm still looking for that perfect light fixture, too -- I can't decide between three different styles, so I've done nothing! Hey, I'm just being honest.

Today, I put a clear coat on the garage (over a coat of primer, an undercoat, and 2 layers of gel stain) and I have to say, it came out really, really well! I'm so happy. Also, as of today, all the many, many, ugly cable wires are off the eaves of my house now. At my insistence, AT&T came back today to REDO the horribly botched install they did 2 weeks ago. All cables are now inside the walls, where they should have been to begin with. The wires that were hanging (yes, hanging) out of my attic vents... gone. Sometimes you just have to be the squeaky wheel. Now.. I just need to plant all the plants that have been patiently waiting to go into the ground...

Next week we are on to some massive landscape making over. I think you will be pleasantly surprised when you see the next pictures -- but again, this is SO much better than it was when we came into it in October.

My graceful, antique olive pots will flank the newly " stained" door, and lavender will crown them - purple against the green... yum. There is so much to do, my head is spinning. The driveway needs to be completely redone, and we are jack hammering out the sidewalks and replacing them with pea gravel paths....

the endless list!

But for now, my garage looks somewhat like the redwood that is buried underneath years of paint, and it just wasn't practical to sand it all out - we would have lost all the texture if we had done that. Given the circumstances ... I am pleased. Big fat check mark on this project.

NEXT!

Museville is moving along.

lurve it lurve it lurve it! I wanted to comment last night - but for some reason it wasn't letting me. Hopefully it will today! :) I'm so glad that you posted the before photos of the guest house/garage. It gives a great view into what it was and what your artistic eye and hard work has turned it into. Beautiful job, and look at that grass in the front yard! Is that a yucca?!? WOWZA did that grow! Alright - back to work!

Holy moses what a transformation!!!
A friend had her driveway skim coated with new cement then textured with gravel. It saved her thousands. You may look into seeing if thats do able for you.
Lovely Sunday!!!
