Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...

Next to my chippy shutters, my next big love is old mirrors - the big heavy and hand carved frames and the mercury splatters on the other side of the glass.... dreamy.

My son says I sound like an old lady now when I sigh... run my fingers along the carvings and lament that they just don't make things like they used to...

...but they don't.

I'm in love with this Antique Italian mirror and it looks just like the moulding going up in my little muse shack...

Isn't it gorgeous?

The detailing on this silver hand mirror is so sweet...

What a lucky mirror to live within a tapestry of weathered and timeworn beauty...

I've been on the hunt for the perfect mirrors for project 36654433 here in Museville, but it's slow going...

but half the fun is in the hunt for just the right ones ...

I wonder who discovered mirrors. I heard the Romans used to have them.

Mirrors in beautiful antique frames and chandeliers -- my two weaknesses! So naturally I think this post is divine.

Simply beautiful!

I never thought much about the past until I gave birth to my first son, that is when it hit me, and became important,
My children belong to the future, and my ancestors to the past ....

Great images and great subject for a post. One wonders if the beautiful frame of a mirror enhances the experience of what we see in them ;-)

I agree with you... Old mirrors have soul, entire histories in their shimmering glaze! Whenever I'm antique shopping I gravitate to the mirrors, and I rarely leave without a piece.

...And isn't it amazing to think of all the folks that glanced in the old mirror...fixed heir hair...their lipstick. They must hold such stories. Eyes of the past.

Great post, Dear Isa!
